Although this is always a difficult situation for anyone, it can become very serious for a homeless person. the ABEJ-Lille has been accredited for 10 of these beds. They are at the accommodation centre and are provided in individual rooms. The projected length of the stay must not exceed two months, but it remains subject to any changes in the state of health of the person in question.
A satisfactory solution for leaving the accommodation must be sought during the stay.
The LHSSs are open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year and offer accommodation, medical and paramedical care, follow-up on the treatment, social support, health organisation and education services. They are accessible to the disabled.
People requiring accommodation in a "short-stay healthcare bed" are referred by the "Médecins Solidarité Lille" (Lille Doctors' Solidarity) association which has the job of regulating places across the whole of the system, because there are other accommodation centres also offering short-stay healthcare beds.
This system is co-ordinated by the Réseau Santé Solidarité Lille Métropole.
