Cultural mediation

This initiative is operated transversally across all Abej departments. Seeing, hearing, touching, marvelling, getting enthusiastic, moaning, lounging around…  basically it’s all about sharing emotions, meeting other people and recognising your feelings. Living.

The cultural mediation initiative works to offer people living on the streets some of the essential things in life that the rest of us take for granted :

- going out to the theatre, to a museum, to a concert,

- but also walking, a day out at the seaside, cycling or go-karting.

Restoring the social bond :

encouraging people to flourish in their living environments and helping them to deal with the social and urban environment.

Taking back public places :

through an approach to cultural practices which is accessible to everyone, we need to be able to take over the public places where culture and knowledge reside, encouraging diversity of cultural expression. Going to the places of expression, co-operation, the places of action and initiative to establish a circuit of relationships, exchanges, words and experience moving towards familiar practice.

Opening up to emotion, to sensitivity. Developing self-esteem, encouraging initiatives which help people feel good about themselves. Strengthening all those things which can help to create a sense of identity.

Combating cultural exclusion in terms of practices and access to places and events. Encouraging people to learn, to dream and to hope.
